Deller and Chen (1997) studied the
impact of NAG on a rural area in
Wisconsin, choosing a methodology
similar to the one used in this Kansas
case study. They compared two similar
regional economies, one with NAG
and the other without it. Deller and
Chen used more variables than the
Kansas study. They conclude that the
?bulk of the economic windfall from
these casinos is remaining on the reservation
and is not rippling through the
regional economy? (Page 252). They
also found that a majority of those
coming to casinos are older and do not
cause the criminal indicators to increase
measurably.
